$49,739.00/yr - $89,518.00/yr
Salary levels are at the GL-5 or GL-7 grade with promotion potential. Pay is determined after completing all pre-employment processes. Duty locations vary across multiple sectors and states, with some locations offering additional recruitment incentives. The position requires firearm proficiency, a polygraph exam, intensive training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy, and adherence to specific age, medical, and legal requirements. Citizenship, background checks, and language proficiency in English and Spanish are mandatory. The role involves wearing a uniform, maintaining grooming standards, and complying with federal laws and DHS ethics policies.
Qualify at the GL-5 level with one year of general experience or a bachelor's degree. For GL-7, one year of specialized law enforcement experience or relevant education is required. Higher levels may require prior law enforcement or military experience. Additional requirements include background investigations, medical and physical fitness tests, and a valid driver’s license.
Must be a U.S. citizen, meet residency requirements, and pass a series of background and health screenings. The position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions and involves mandatory training and ongoing qualification in firearm use. Employment is contingent upon passing drug tests and fitness assessments.
