The U.S. Border Patrol is hiring full-time, entry-level Law Enforcement Officers to protect America's borders. This role offers competitive pay, recruitment incentives, and comprehensive federal benefits. Candidates must meet specific qualifications and complete training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy.
IMPORTANT NOTICE : Duty assignments available at the time of offer may include the Southwest Border, including prioritized locations.
U.S. Border Patrol determines duty assignments at the time of offer based on operational needs, which may or may not align with candidates' first-choice preferences. Relocation may be required.
Earn up to $30,000 in recruitment incentives: Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents will be offered a $20,000 incentive. The first $10,000 is paid upon successful completion of training at the Border Patrol Academy, with the remainder paid after completing a three-year service agreement. Agents accepting prioritized locations (Sierra Blanca, Presidio, Sanderson, Comstock, Freer, Hebbronville, TX; Lordsburg, NM; or Ajo, AZ) are eligible for an additional $10,000.
Applicants currently in pre-employment do not need to reapply to be eligible for the incentive.

Salary and Benefits:
Annual base salary for new Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) varies:
GS-11: $73,939 - $96,116
Pay rates depend on duty location; locality pay varies by location. Fully trained agents may be eligible for up to an additional 25% of base pay under the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This position has a career ladder progression from GL-5 to GS-12, with promotions possible after 52 weeks in each grade.

For GL-9 and GS-11 positions, no education substitutions are available. Experience must be at the next lower grade level and involve duties like searches, apprehensions, investigations, and intelligence work.
