Job summary

Barnes & Noble Booksellers is seeking a Bookseller to warmly welcome customers, answer questions and connect readers with the right titles and products. You will help maintain attractive store presentation, assist with unpacking deliveries, and run registers with quick, friendly service.

You’ll join a busy team focused on customer care, merchandising, and reliable attendance, with opportunities to grow to Senior Bookseller as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• Maintain reliable and punctual attendance for scheduled shifts.
• Flexible and responsive to the needs of the store — open from early mornings to late evenings every day, including weekends and most holidays.
• Positive and willing in your approach to work, performing assigned tasks with purpose and energy, working hard and reliably.
• Supportive and considerate of colleagues, going out of your way to help others on the team and showing them kindness.
• Always cheerful with customers, consistently going out of your way to help them.
• Show aptitude and willingness to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge in the store.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and answer questions to connect readers with the right titles and products.
• Maintain attractive store presentation and ensure efficient running.
• Unpack deliveries and tidy displays; help shelving and stocking.
• Run registers quickly and with friendly, professional service.
• Support receiving and shelving, and help customers with shopping.
• Build book knowledge across fiction, nonfiction and children’s books and make recommended picks.
• Support café team when needed and follow loss prevention procedures.
