The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is seeking a full-time employee to provide bookmobile services throughout Jefferson County. The role involves assisting patrons with book selections, maintaining good public relations, and compiling circulation figures.
Qualified candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, 1-3 years of relevant experience, and a solid understanding of library practices. This position requires the ability to drive the bookmobile in various conditions while keeping a positive rapport with patrons.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly sits in a van for extended periods of time while making deliveries. The employee stands and walks regularly, and lifts heavy items. Employee casually converses verbally with others in person. Normal vision demands.
Knowledge of: library practices; children's and adult literature; Dewey Decimal System.
Ability to: develop and maintain effective working relationships with patrons, coworkers, facility staff members, general public and other job contacts; exhibit good public relations as library representative; work independently; relate well with persons of varying age, economic and social backgrounds; exhibit a broad reading background; maintain confidentiality of confidential and sensitive subject matter.
Skill in: reading, communicating effectively in written and oral form; routine typing.
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is: high school degree, GED or equivalent, with computer and other work related courses, one to three years of job related experience, and a successful driving record. A broad reading background and demonstrable ability to maintain good public relations.
Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
