Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a bookkeeping associate to enter client data into the bookkeeping system, record income and expenses, and ensure proper endorsement and deposit of checks. You will reconcile ledgers and generate payroll reports while maintaining a manual filing system and supporting ongoing training.

Role involves processing payroll in accordance with wage laws and contributing to process improvements. Local work location is Illinois; compensation includes hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• No previous work experience necessary.

Responsibilities

• Enter financial data into the client's bookkeeping system and determine the best method to record income, expenses, returned checks, bank charges, and labor hours/codes.
• Reconcile ledgers and cash/bank accounts; prepare and report income and bank charges information.
• Balance and reconcile ledgers to the client’s general ledger system; review on an agreed basis.
• Prepare payroll checks and monthly/quarterly/annual payroll reports in compliance with wage and hour laws.
• Maintain a manual file system for hard-copy documents and participate in meetings/trainings to improve service.
