Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced bookkeeper in Virginia Beach to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll processing, and exceptional client service. The role involves posting transactions, reconciling accounts, generating financial statements, and preparing payroll and tax forms.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, familiarity with GAAP, and proficiency in Xero. High school diploma or equivalent and relevant certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
