The Bulwark—one of the most dynamic and fast-growing news outlets in the country—is looking for an experienced show booker and digital production specialist to be both a hands-on video editor and creator and a talent booker for video content across Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, Reddit, and other important platforms. The ideal candidate is a creative professional with a strong interest in politics and culture.

The Bulwark is home to Tim Miller, Sarah Longwell, Bill Kristol, and many other leading voices and reporters. It is dedicated to providing political analysis and reporting free from partisan constraints or corporate interests. It publishes and broadcasts smart politics and culture commentary from a variety of viewpoints.

Job Qualifications, Responsibilities, & Skills

• At least 5 years of experience producing for live TV, including booking, writing and video editing
• Aggressively pitch stories and book newsmakers and proactively track and cover breaking news
• Manage tech connections for guests, conduct pre-interviews, and secure facilities for remote interviews
• Have demonstrated relationships with guests and high-profile influencers across politics and culture
• Write and produce guest segments optimized for video, including appropriate prep for talent
• Ability to tackle challenges and multitask with effective communication in a high-pressure newsroom environment while prioritizing assignments and meeting deadlines
• Flexibility to work unconventional hours in a 24-hour news environment such as weekends, overnights, or holidays
• Creative editing of short-form and long-form videos for delivery to a variety of platforms including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok
• Creation of thumbnails and titles for YouTube and other platforms optimized for performance
• Strong editorial judgment and newsgathering skills with the ability to isolate the most salient pieces of a discussion.
• Strong sense of project ownership and excitement for being an integral part of a growing organization.
• Candidates willing to work on site in our DC office are strongly preferred
