Job summary

Bloomberg is seeking a highly motivated political booking producer to join our politics team in-person at our Washington bureau. You will be responsible for booking newsmakers, shaping interviews, and supporting anchors and editors in a fast-paced newsroom.

The role requires 5+ years producing for live TV, strong knowledge of politics and markets, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. You will develop interview questions, pitches, and one-sheets to guide on-air discussions and coverage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years producing live TV including booking, writing and producing.
  • Knowledge of politics, government, business news and the financial markets.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and adapt hours.

Responsibilities

  • Land interviews with big names among key decision makers in Washington and beyond, for shows across the network.
  • Own the editorial preparation for guest interviews, including research, question development and production of a clear, concise interview “one sheet.”
  • Identify the central news line for each interview and develop sharp questions, follow-ups and areas of accountability.
  • Be proactive - pitch ideas, be creative, bring your expertise to the table and elevate our content
  • Pitch newsmakers and stories
  • Develop strong relationships within the politics, business, finance communities globally
  • Work closely with the show-side producers and talent
  • Be willing to write and produce guest segments for broadcast
  • Work well under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Be able to pivot and react as news events evolve

Bloomberg Television is looking for a highly motivated political booking producer to join our politics team in-person at our Washington bureau.

You will be responsible for booking newsmakers and top guests on market-moving stories, taking the initiative on covering breaking news, finding the appropriate voices under deadline pressure, and supporting the senior producer, line producer and anchors. In addition to securing high-profile guests, you will play a central editorial role in shaping each interview. That includes researching guests and topics, drafting interview questions and producing a concise “one sheet” that gives anchors and producers the essential context for each segment.

You should have a broad interest in politics and government with a specialized focus on markets, finance and the economy. You should be able to join our team with an pre-established list of contacts and relationships with key players and decision makers in government and politics.

YOU'LL NEED TO HAZE:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience producing for live TV, including booking, writing and producing
  • Knowledge of politics, government, business news and the financial markets
  • Problem solving skills, with the ability to work under deadline pressure
  • Flexibility with hours

Salary Range = 85,000-110,000 USD Annual+ Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
