Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute seeks a Pathology Support Specialist II to coordinate bone marrow procedures across clinics and to review pathology test orders for completeness in the EMR. You will ensure insurance authorization is in place before scheduling and liaise with APPs and MA staff to maintain procedural support.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in a healthcare field, clinical or laboratory setting.
• Experience with insurance knowledge and medical terminology preferred.
• Lab Information System and EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Runs Sigma reports to obtain daily test and procedure orders.
• Follows up on incomplete or unsigned orders.
• Reviews procedure orders in EMR to create and maintain Bone Marrow Clinic schedules.
• Verifies patient demographics and insurance for procedure approval per contracts.
• Contacts patients to confirm appointments and provide pre-procedure instructions.
• Maintains and protects patient information and confidentiality.
• Complies with quality control policies and applicable laws for clinical labs.
• Collaborates with APPs and MA staff to ensure adequate support for procedures.
• Maintains par levels of collection needles, trays, and kits and places procurement orders.
• Participates in team meetings and maintains monthly metrics.
