Job description

Work Performed:

Inspects production or first run parts, units assemblies made from a variety of materials, such as plastic, fiber glass, metal, wood, etc., or inspects types of materials where bonding agents or adhesives are used. Inspects bonded parts or parts to be bonded prior to, during and after bonding process. May inspect by disassembling at bond line to determine quality of bond and perform a variety of inspection tests to insure adherence to proper specifications. Working from blueprints, specifications or verbal instructions, inspects visually or by use of a wide variety of precision measuring instruments, equipment, gauges, jigs, fixtures, templates, etc., to determine acceptability. Performs difficult inspection layouts and setups to check work to proper standards or specifications. Rejects items, which fail to meet required standards. Using standard mathematical formulas related to the job to inspect weight and balance of rotor blades. Maintains records, graphs and charts on all bonding procedures, tests and related data. Aids, guides and assists other inspectors in proper bonding inspection methods and procedures. Required to handle the more complex and most difficult bonding or atest inspection work. Performs all phases of inspection on formed and machined plastic parts, assemblies and materials by determination through visual examination or by means of tools, templates, fixtures, measuring instruments or special inspection equipment the adherence to blueprints, specifications, inspection standards, workmanship, optical qualities, proper materials, finishes, defects, layouts, contours, bonding and dimensional correctness on all formed and machines plastic assemblies, raw material and detail parts.

Incumbents required to operate saws, drill press, shaper, sanders and pull test machines in preparing and testing bonded test parts. May perform destructive testing as required.

Tools & Equipment Used:

Saws, drill press, shaper, sanders, inspectors hand tools, precision measuring instruments, special testing devices and material testing equipment. Layout and set up equipment. Variety of specialized equipment necessary to perform required work, etc.

Experience & Other Requirements:

Three years inspection in bonding, fabrication, welding or finishing or two years inspection experience plus one year experience Bonding.
