Job summary

Our client is seeking a Substation Engineering Manager to lead Boise's growing office. This department leadership role will grow the team, stay technically engaged, and help build out a regional presence with strong client demand.

You will oversee engineers, designers, and drafters on substation projects, drive resource planning, mentoring, and professional development, and participate in proposals and business strategy. This is a hybrid in-person role based in Boise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 8+ years of hands-on substation engineering design with team leadership.
• Ability to manage budgets, proposals, and schedules.
• Hybrid role requiring in-person work in Boise.
• Strong client-facing communication and team development.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, designers, and drafters delivering substation engineering design projects
• Own resource planning, performance management, and professional development for the team
• Build a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, cost estimates, schedules, and technical documentation
• Support the team's technical execution throughout project lifecycles
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate delivery
• Monitor project KPIs and quality, and support compliance with safety and operational standards
• Participate in business planning and strategy, including recruiting to grow the Boise team over time
