Job summary

Pilgrim’s in Edinburg, VA is hiring a Boiler Tech/Maintenance Mechanic to operate, maintain and troubleshoot boilers and steam systems to keep the plant running safely and efficiently. This role emphasizes safety compliance, preventive maintenance, and teamwork.

You’ll monitor gauges, adjust controls, read blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, and assist other maintenance staff. The position requires an electrical background and willingness to work in challenging environments; experience

Qualifications

• Electrical background preferred.
• Boiler experience preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years maintenance/mechanics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor gauges, flow meters, and other instruments; perform water sampling and treatment.
• Adjust controls to maintain specified settings (temperature, steam pressure, air pressure, etc.).
• Operate valves to control heat, steam, water, chemicals.
• Install, maintain, and repair electro-pneumatic valves and control devices for boiler systems.
• Inspect and test systems to verify compliance and locate malfunctions.
• Read blueprints and schematics; diagnose mechanical failures and determine corrective actions.
• Perform timely repair and routine maintenance; preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Respond to emergencies and unplanned repairs as needed.
• Work in high heat/cold environments, heights, confined spaces; lift heavy objects.
• Welding and fabrication skills preferred.

Schedule: 1ST SHIFT MON-FRI 8:00AM – 4:30PM

Position Summary

The Boiler Tech/Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting boilers, steam systems, and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. This role requires adherence to safety regulations, preventive maintenance schedules, and operational procedures to support production needs. This position will also require maintenance mechanic support throughout the plant.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Electrical background preferred
• Boiler Experience is preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Protein Conversion experience preferred but not required
• General knowledge of maintenance procedures with a minimum of 2 years experience Mechanical and welding experience preferred

Description

• Monitor pressure gauges, flow meters, thermometers and other measurement devices or equipment. Perform water sampling and treatment.
• Adjust control to maintain specified settings such as temperature, steam pressure, air pressure, water pressure, etc.
• Operate valves in order to control heat, steam, water, chemical flow and other mixes.
• Install, maintain and repair electro-pneumatic valves and direct control devices related to boiler systems.
• Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with specifications, as well as detect and locate malfunctions.
• Check fluid levels on gearboxes, lubricate bearings, replace filters and perform other maintenance actions following stablished checklist.
• Read complex blueprints, piping, sketches and schematics.
• Recognize, diagnose and solve mechanical failures, determine corrective actions needed, check blueprints, manuals and parts catalog.
• Perform timely repair and routine maintenance.
• Preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Deal with emergency and unplanned problems and repairs.
• Experience using power tools, saws, drills, impacts, grinder, etc.
• Should be able to work on high heat and cold environments, heights, confined spaces.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods of time.
• Welding and fabrication skills preferred.
• Willing to help out maintenance team in the plant when needed
• Able to Work as part of a team

QUALIFICATIONS

• K nowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment, preferred.
• Working knowledge of electricity, preferred.
• Basic knowledge of standard and metric measures, preferred.
• Ability to read and understand schematics, preferred.
• Ability to arc and gas weld (overhead and bench), preferred.
• Prior maintenance experience is a plus.
• Experience with computer software such as SAP is a plus.

• Base salary range of $26.61 - $32.39
