Qualifications

Job description

Job Title: Boiler Technician - 1st Shift

Salary Range: $27.00 – $35.00 per hour

Job Type: Permanent, Onsite

Position Summary

The boiler technician has a critical hourly role and is responsible for monitoring, adjusting, and maintaining the operation of various plant equipment. Key focus areas include hydraulics, pneumatics, potable water, steam distribution, boilers, water systems, and pumping systems. This position demands versatility and proficiency across multiple technical skills and systems.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform tasks requiring proficiency in basic electrical, electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
  2. Utilize prior experience, special training, and formal education in a mechanical capacity to execute job functions.
  3. Work flexible shifts as required by the role.
  4. Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to understand technical manuals.
  5. Maintain detailed documentation and logs of equipment readings and activities.
  6. Participate in relevant meetings concerning boiler systems, hot water systems, filters, and air compressors.
  7. Assist engineers and contractors with various projects as needed.
  8. Work independently and collaboratively, following instructions and adapting to changing conditions.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Non-Negotiable Requirements:

  1. Possession of a City of Omaha 3rd Grade Engineer’s License.
  2. A minimum of one (1) year of maintenance work experience documented in the application or graduation from an industrial maintenance training program. A combination of employers can satisfy this requirement if the total experience is at least one year.
  3. Must have Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 75 pounds.
  2. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stretch, climb, push, and reach.
  3. Climb up and down stairs and ladders.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  1. Proficiency in multiple skill clusters, including basic electrical, electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
  2. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently without supervision, follow instructions, and adapt readily to changes.

  1. This facility operates five days a week with potential for overtime and occasional 6- to 7-day workweeks, producing bacon and bacon toppings.
