Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Steam Systems Mechanic to perform maintenance, repairs, modification, replacement and installation of boilers and related equipment located in the District Steam Systems (DSS) buildings, steam vaults and in other outlying facilities on campus.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance and tuning of electronic, pneumatic, and PLC controls, electrical and mechanical components, pumps, valves, and gearboxes, plus interpreting blueprints and

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience is required.
An associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Systems/Maintenance, Electronic/Industrial Controls, or an Electrical program is preferred.
Boiler Operator License or ASOPE Class III certification or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintains, repairs, modifies, replaces, and installs boilers and related equipment in campus facilities.
Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and installations on electronic, pneumatic, and PLC controls.
Handles boiler electrical and mechanical components, pumps, valves, gearboxes, and related systems.
Interprets blueprints and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
