Job summary

The State of North Carolina, Department of Administration, is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III to perform maintenance and repair of boilers, steam systems, and related equipment in the Facility Management Division at the Raleigh complex.

The role requires knowledge of boilers, safety training, ability to work independently or with a team, and the ability to meet physical demands. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 2 years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas, or an equivalent combination.
• Experience with boilers, steam distribution, and related plant equipment.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions, and work in teams or independently.
• Physically capable of heavy lifting and working at heights; respirator training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair boilers and boiler room auxiliary equipment, including condensate systems, pumps, steam and water valves, air compressors, and steam traps.
• Perform maintenance on underground steam distribution and reduced pressure steam systems.
• Ensure controls and feed water draft are maintained for optimum plant operation; operate boiler room systems.
