Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Boiler Service Technician to service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating and cooling equipment for commercial and industrial customers. The role requires experience with boilers, HVAC systems, and reading electrical schematics.

The candidate should be capable of multi-tasking, working with minimal supervision, and traveling to multiple job sites as needed. Final compensation will be determined by experience and licensure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of boiler cleaning/servicing in commercial/industrial settings
• 4+ years of practical HVAC experience
• Basic knowledge of electricity and electrical control systems
• Understanding of fuel oil, natural gas, and propane
• Able to multi-task with minimal supervision and strong problem solving
• Able to read blueprints, specifications, and schematics
• Must follow company policy and report to multiple job sites

Responsibilities

• Service boilers and equipment for commercial/industrial customers
• Troubleshoot, test, repair, and maintain heating systems including steam and hot water
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, and modifications requested by customers
• Prepare on-site installation and repairs—examine layouts, plan challenges, coordinate materials and on-site work
• Document, complete, and maintain paperwork for each job
• Performs other duties as assigned

Summary/Objective

The Boiler Service Technician will be responsible for the servicing, troubleshooting, repairing cleaning, and maintenance of heating and cooling equipment and related systems for commercial / industrial customers.

Essential Functions

• Service boilers and equipment for commercial / industrial customers
• Troubleshoot, test, repair, maintain or modify heating systems and equipment including, but not limited to, high pressure steam, low pressure steam, and hot water systems
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement and modifications requested by customers
• Prepares on-site installation and repairs - examining building layout, anticipating challenges, identifying materials and coordinates on-site work
• Document, complete, and maintain paperwork on each job
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required

• 3+ years of relevant experience cleaning and servicing boilers in a commercial / industrial environment; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
• 4+ years of practical experience in general HVAC work
• Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical control systems
• Understanding of fuel oil, natural gas, and propane
• Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
• Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints, specifications, and schematics
• Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
• Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Work Environment

The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but is not limited to the following:

• May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
• May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
• May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands

• This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
• While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Travel

• May require travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred

• HS diploma or GED equivalent
• Knowledge of HVAC 20's equipment
• Journeyman's or Master license
• Prior military experience
