Job summary

Atlantic Constructors is seeking dynamic, career-minded individuals for our expanding team to service and maintain heating and cooling systems for commercial/industrial customers. The Boiler Service Technician will troubleshoot, repair, and keep facilities running efficiently across multiple sites.

You will work with high/low pressure steam and hot water systems, read blueprints, and perform preventative maintenance while meeting safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant boiler servicing experience in a commercial/industrial environment.
• 4+ years of practical HVAC experience.
• Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical control systems.
• Understanding of fuel oil, natural gas, and propane.
• Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints, specifications and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Service boilers and equipment for commercial/industrial customers.
• Troubleshoot, test, repair, maintain or modify heating systems and equipment (high/low pressure steam, hot water).
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, and modifications per customer requests.
• Prepare on-site installation and repairs by examining layout, coordinating materials and work on-site.
• Document and maintain paperwork for each job.

Summary/Objective

The Boiler Service Technician will be responsible for the servicing, troubleshooting, repairing cleaning, and maintenance of heating and cooling equipment and related systems for commercial / industrial customers.

Essential Functions

• Service boilers and equipment for commercial / industrial customers
• Troubleshoot, test, repair, maintain or modify heating systems and equipment including, but not limited to, high pressure steam, low pressure steam, and hot water systems
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement and modifications requested by customers
• Prepares on-site installation and repairs - examining building layout, anticipating challenges, identifying materials and coordinates on-site work
• Document, complete, and maintain paperwork on each job
• Performs other duties as assigned

• 3+ years of relevant experience cleaning and servicing boilers in a commercial / industrial environment; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
• 4+ years of practical experience in general HVAC work
• Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical control systems
• Understanding of fuel oil, natural gas, and propane
• Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
• Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints, specifications, and schematics
• Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
• Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Work Environment

• May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
• May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
• May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands

• This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
• While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Travel

• May require travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred

• HS diploma or GED equivalent
• Knowledge of HVAC 20's equipment
• Journeyman's or Master license
• Prior military experience
