Job summary

Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. seeks a skilled Boiler Operator to support the Frederick campus facilities.

You will operate the Central Utility Plant boilers, monitor steam production, and coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure reliable energy and safety compliance. Qualifications include a high school diploma, 5+ years of boiler experience, Maryland Grade 1 Stationary Engineering License, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; foreign degrees evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience.
• Maryland Grade 1 Stationary Engineering License required.
• Ability to read gauges, meters and charts for boiler performance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs/ladders, work in confined spaces.
• Safety-sensitive role with random drug testing and security clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Operate steam boilers in Central Utility Plant (CUP) to support campus utility demands.
• Produce and distribute steam for HVAC and process equipment.
• Monitor boiler operations via building automation systems and control panels.
• Stage boilers to meet steam load demands; fine-tune combustion controls.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on boilers and water treatment systems.
• Maintain documentation of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Respond to alarms and provide on-site support during emergencies and severe weather.
