Job summary

IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances and health sciences, seeks a Boiler Operator for its Memphis, TN on-site facility. You will operate and monitor high-pressure boilers, perform startup/shutdowns, and maintain logs to ensure safe, reliable plant operations.

Requirements include a Tennessee Class 1 Operating Steam Engineer License, 3+ years in boiler/utility systems, and strong troubleshooting with clear English communication for 24/7 manufacturing support.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Class 1 Operating Steam Engineer License (Tennessee) required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience operating high-pressure boilers and industrial utility systems.
Knowledge of boiler operations, water treatment processes, fuel systems, and related mechanical equipment.
Ability to interpret meters, gauges, operating charts, and technical documentation.
Experience maintaining operational records, reports, and equipment logs.
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Comfortable working rotating shifts, overtime schedules, and supporting 24/7 manufacturing operations.
Effective written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor high-pressure steam boilers and associated utility systems to ensure reliable plant operations.
Perform startup, shutdown, adjustment, and routine operation of pumps, boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, water softeners, and related equipment.
Monitor equipment performance through computerized systems and operational controls.
Analyze water quality and chemical balances while supporting water treatment processes and regulatory compliance.
Identify equipment concerns and proactively generate maintenance notifications to prevent downtime.
Maintain accurate operational logs, maintenance records, meter readings, and inspection documentation.
Support emergency response procedures related to utility systems, including fuel, water, air, and steam operations.
Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, GMP, HACCP, sanitation, and environmental requirements.
Contribute to a safe and organized workplace by following all safety procedures and promoting operational excellence.
