Job Summary:
Join an elite mission at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Charleston, SC, and Joint Base Charleston, where your technical expertise will support a high-demand federal law enforcement training hub. As a vital part of DAWSON’s facilities maintenance team, you will ensure optimal steam and hot water operations across mission-critical systems. From classrooms and dormitories to high-use training centers, your role in operating and maintaining boilers safeguards system efficiency, safety, and environmental control—helping sustain the infrastructure that powers national security training.
Location: Charleston, SC
Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain steam and hot water boilers with a capacity of up to 10.5 MMBTU/HR in accordance with safety protocols and standard procedures.
Perform regular inspections, log operating data, and respond to alarms or abnormal operating conditions.
Monitor and adjust chemical treatment of boiler feedwater and cooling towers; ensure compliance with EPA and OSHA safety requirements.
Coordinate with the Senior Boiler Technician on blow-down procedures, water quality, and system maintenance schedules.
Conduct preventive maintenance and minor repairs on boilers and associated auxiliary equipment (e.g., feedwater systems, condensate return systems, softeners, and hot water tanks).
Maintain clean, safe, and compliant boiler rooms, and ensure timely reporting of incidents or equipment anomalies.
Support emergency response efforts and participate in disaster preparedness operations when required.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years’ recent experience in boiler operation and maintenance for institutional or commercial facilities.
Proficiency in boiler safety devices, including low and high-water shutdown switches and main steam safeties.
Familiarity with chemical analysis and treatment of boiler feedwater and cooling tower systems.
Strong knowledge of daily equipment logging and troubleshooting of boiler-related components.
Must be capable of coordinating with Senior Boiler Technicians on all operations and chemical programs.
Additional Requirements:
Must be knowledgeable in steam system safety controls, including fire and explosion hazard prevention.
Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of 24/7 coverage.
