Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a Facilities Technician to perform physical plant operations, preventive maintenance, and on-call services, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include inspecting HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, responding to outages, performing repairs, logging activities, and collaborating with staff to meet department goals. A high school diploma and relevant licenses or experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Second class fireman license preferred or two years’ experience in plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Read, record, and inspect heating, plumbing, HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, pumps, and controls.
• Perform preventive maintenance on systems and equipment such as boilers, air conditioning, pumps, and generators.
• Respond to emergency calls related to power loss, steam, water, heat, or ice; operate emergency equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify problems in the physical plant (loss of heat, hot water, power outages, loud noises, overheating).
• Notify appropriate personnel of impending problems or major equipment failures needing specialized repair.
• Start, stop, and operate all equipment according to procedures and criteria.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks and repairs as assigned.
• Enter operating data in logs and logbooks; prepare deficiency lists and reports.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with peers to achieve team goals and foster a positive environment.
• Complete all training requirements provided by the department.
