Job summary

Venergy-Group-LL is seeking a Boiler Division Manager to provide leadership for boiler installations, maintenance, and repair across multiple project sites in the United States. The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and client relations, with travel as required to support project execution.

The incumbent will manage a team of operators and technicians, supervise budgets, and drive business development while ensuring adherence to ASME, OSHA, and VHA directives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in boiler or industrial mechanical systems, with at least 2 years in supervision.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Experience managing large boiler or mechanical plant projects.
  • Familiarity with VHA boiler safety standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of boilers and related systems.
  • Direct and improve preventive maintenance programs for heating/hot-water systems.
  • Manage inventory, procurement, and budgeting for the division.
  • Maintain records including logs, emissions data, and regulatory reporting.
  • Coordinate with inspectors and regulatory authorities; ensure compliance with ASME and OSHA.
  • Lead business development and client relationship activities.

Job description

Job Summary:

The Boiler Division Manager provides overall leadership and operational oversight for the boiler division. This role is responsible for project management, team supervision, client relations, regulatory compliance, and business development. The Manager ensures that all boiler-related installation, maintenance, and repair work is performed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry codes, client specifications, and applicable Veterans Health Administration (VHA) directives. Because project locations are situated in different areas of the country, regular travel is required. There is also the opportunity for cross-training in HVAC, chillers, mechanical systems, and emergency power generators to support broader service capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Direct and supervise boiler operators, mechanics, technicians, apprentices, and other assigned personnel.
  • Provide training and mentoring in boiler operation, controls, equipment repair, chemical handling, and safety practices.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify individual and team development needs.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet project and contractual requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, and related systems.
  • Direct and continuously improve the preventive maintenance program for heating and hot-water systems.
  • Order fuel, equipment, and parts; manage inventory and procurement to support operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate records including machinery logs, fuel and emissions data, EPA reporting, chemical consumption, and state boiler inspections.
  • Prepare technical specifications, review contractor bids, and supervise subcontractors and vendors.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the operating budget for the heating plant / boiler division.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with state inspectors, insurance inspectors, and other regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure full compliance with ASME codes, OSHA standards, local jurisdictional requirements, and applicable VHA directives.
  • Lead business development efforts for the division, including proposal support, client relationship management, and identification of new opportunities.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all personnel follow established safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Extensive technical knowledge of boiler systems, including design, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency with project management software, budgeting tools, and standard office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of VHA directives related to boiler plant operations and the VHA Boiler Plant Safety Device Testing Manual (8th Edition) is highly favorable.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in the boiler or industrial mechanical systems industry, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale boiler or mechanical plant projects.
  • Familiarity with VHA boiler safety standards and the 8th Edition Boiler Manual is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to visit and walk project sites, mechanical rooms, and boiler plants as needed.
  • Occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, and other company locations is required.
  • Work is performed in both office settings and on active project sites, including mechanical rooms and boiler plants.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and operating machinery may occur during site visits.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when on site.
