Job summary

The New York City Police Department seeks candidates for the Media Services Technician role within the Legal Bureau's Body-Worn Camera Unit. You will search applications for responsive footage, tag and share cases, apply redactions, and ensure proper production in response to requests from government agencies and prosecutors.

Position requires specialized education in electronics or related fields and experience with audio-visual equipment.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree with 24 credits in electronics technology, television production, broadcast communications, film production, or audio production (or equivalent).
• Associate degree with 12 credits in the same areas plus 1 year of full-time related experience is acceptable.
• Certificate or diploma in electronics or related field plus 2 years of related experience is acceptable.
• Four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent plus 3 years of related experience is acceptable.
• Any combination of education/experience equivalent to the above, with a four-year diploma or equivalent as a minimum.

Responsibilities

• Search NYPD applications to locate responsive footage.
• Tag and share responsive footage, and complete required paperwork.
• Review footage and apply redactions per laws and Department policies.
• Download and copy responsive footage for production.
• Handle criminal and civil discovery requests in coordination with prosecutors and related parties.

Education

Bachelor's degree with 24 credits in electronics technology or related fields

Associate degree with 12 credits in electronics technology or related fields plus 1 year full-time experience

Certificate or diploma in electronics plus two years of related experience

Four-year high school diploma and three years of related experience

Combination of education and/or experience equivalent to items 1-4 with four-year diploma or equivalent
