Job summary

The MTA Police Department seeks qualified Police Officers for the Integrated Communications Unit to support body-worn camera programs, internal communications, and video production.

Responsibilities include training, redacting video for FOIL, managing visuals, social media content, and coordinating audio-visual needs for ceremonies and events; internal material creation and recruitment content.

Qualifications

• Must have completed probationary period at the time of appointment.
• Field Training Officer experience preferred.
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign, Illustrator) preferred but not required.
• Strong written and oral communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to internal entities regarding Body Worn Camera systems.
• Maintain body-worn camera inventory and assist in equipment distribution.
• Generate body-worn camera compliance reports as needed.
• Train officers in the use of Body Worn Camera and Axon Evidence.com.
• Redact video footage for FOIL requests and other needs.
• Maintain a Video Training Library for department-wide training.
• Support internal entities with visuals and presentations for various staff and investigations.
• Create internal communications material for the Department.
• Create, curate and manage content across social media to boost engagement.
• Assist with audio-visual needs for ceremonies and events.
• Photograph and film department events and operations.
• Create content for the Department including educational and recruitment videos.

JOB TITLE: Police Officer, Integrated Communications Unit

DEPT/DIV: Administrative Services Bureau, Professional Standards Division

SUPERVISOR: Commanding Officer, Professional Standards Division

LOCATION: To be Determined

HOURS OF WORK: Three (3) tours of Twelve Hours and Twenty Minutes (12:20) with Four Consecutive Rest Days

Summary

The Department is seeking applications from qualified Police Officers who are interested in being considered for the assignment of Police Officer – Integrated Communications Unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to internal entities regarding Body Worn Camera: Executive Staff, Command Staff, PSU, Investigative Services, Professional Development, Internal Affairs Unit, Records, etc.
• Maintain body-worn camera inventory and assist in equipment distribution.
• Generate body-worn camera compliance reports as needed.
• Train police officers in the use of the body-worn camera and the Axon Evidence.com management system.
• Redact video footage for FOIL requests, Press Office, and any other requests as needed.
• Help maintain a Video Training Library to be used for training purposes throughout the Department.
• Provide support to internal entities regarding visual graphics & presentations: Command Staff, Strategic Initiatives, Professional Development, Applicant Investigations, etc.
• Create internal communications material for the Department.
• Create, curate, and manage published content across various social media platforms to enhance engagement.
• Support Department ceremonies and events, assisting with audio-visual needs as required.
• Photograph and film various events & operations as needed by the Department.
• Create content for the Department, including instructional and recruitment videos.

Qualifications

Qualified Officers must, at a minimum, have the following qualifications/requirements to be considered for appointment.

Must have completed probationary period at the time of appointment.
Field Training Officer experience preferred.
Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.
Experience in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign, and Illustrator
preferred, not required.
Strong written & oral communications skills.

Give a brief presentation on “Body-Worn Camera (BWC) Activation.” This presentation must be prepared prior to the interview and may include a PowerPoint, handout, verbal lecture, etc. Please refer to Manual Section 11-21 Use of Body Worn Cameras.

Present sample communications content. The subject matter is "MTA Police Department Recruitment." This can be a graphic design, short video, storyboard, outline, or written strategy - there's no minimum length or required format. Applicants should be prepared to briefly present
