Qualifications

  • Dependable, motivated, and able to follow instructions and established procedures.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles, tools, and equipment after appropriate training.

Responsibilities

  • Learn collision repair techniques and industry standards alongside an experienced body shop technician.
  • Assist with disassembly, reassembly, and repair preparation.
  • Learn proper, safe use of body shop tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Move customer vehicles to/from work areas as directed.
  • Retrieve parts, materials, and supplies needed for repairs.
  • Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
  • Replenish shop supplies and materials as needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and repair guidelines.
  • Participate in technical training, certification programs, and departmental meetings.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn, accept coaching, and develop technical skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Body Shop Technician Trainee is an entry-level position designed for individuals interested in developing a career in automotive collision repair. Working alongside experienced Body Shop Technicians, the trainee will gain hands-on experience in vehicle repair processes, shop procedures, tools, equipment, and industry standards. This position provides an opportunity to build technical skills through on-the-job training while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Body Shop.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Works alongside an assigned Body Shop Technician to learn proper collision repair techniques, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Assists with vehicle disassembly, reassembly, repair preparation, and other body repair tasks under the direction of an experienced technician.
  • Learns the proper and safe use of body shop tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Moves customer vehicles into and out of work areas as directed.
  • Retrieves parts, materials, and supplies needed for repairs.
  • Assists with maintaining an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
  • Replenishes shop supplies and materials as needed.
  • Follows all company safety procedures and manufacturer repair guidelines.
  • Participates in required technical training, certification programs, and departmental meetings.
