Job summary

Freedom Motors USA is seeking a Body Shop Technician in Battle Creek, MI to inspect and repair used wheelchair-accessible mobility vehicles. You will handle general maintenance, oil changes, tire/brake service, and repairs to mobility hydraulics, electronics, and structural systems.

The role requires at least 3 years of professional mechanic experience, strong automotive knowledge, and the ability to read schematics. A high school diploma or equivalent and vocational training are preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a vocational or technical training program in automotive repair preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic in a professional setting.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine general mechanic work and maintenance on vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
• Diagnose and repair various general mechanical issues, including engine problems, transmission issues, and electrical faults
• Perform routine general mechanic work and maintenance on installed mobility apparatus, including pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.
• Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance work performed on vehicles
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Body Shop Technician, you’ll be responsible for inspecting and repairing used Wheelchair Accessible Mobility Vehicles that we take in on trade or purchase. You will perform inspections and repairs on the general maintenance of vehicles, including oil changes, tires, brakes, engine and transmission issues, and also all of the added mobility components - hydraulics, electronics, etc.
