Job summary

Southport-Truck-Group is seeking a Full-Time Heavy Truck Technician in Tampa, FL. The role repairs body parts on Freightliner and Western Star heavy/medium-duty trucks, adhering to factory specs and time standards.

Responsibilities include inspecting damage, documenting repairs, performing repairs per estimates, assisting other techs, and maintaining safety compliance. Must have at least 2 years' experience and pass a respirator fit test. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working on heavy/medium-duty trucks.
• Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment used in heavy truck repair.
• Possess work-related hand tools (not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools).
• A neat and organized approach to work & reporting.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance requirement.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds regularly; up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Must pass a respirator fit test.

Responsibilities

• Examine damage on heavy and medium-duty trucks.
• Document repairs and track job time in the in-house system via a repair order.
• Prepare and repair vehicle per estimate according to manufacturer standards.
• De-trim, disassemble and repair vehicle with urgency and attention to detail.
• Assist other Technicians in difficult tasks.
• Maintain and update mechanical knowledge and training.
• Occasional lifting of 50+ pounds.
• Promote workplace safety and report hazards.
• Adhere to safety and quality procedures.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $18.00 To $35.00 Hourly

Job Summary

Repairs damaged body parts of heavy-duty vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards. Servicing dedicated brands of Freightliner and Western Star trucks.

• Examine damage heavy and medium-duty trucks
• Document all repairs and pertinent information to the work performed and track job time on in-house business system(s) via a repair order
• Prepare and repair vehicle per estimate according to manufacturer standards
• De-trim, disassemble and repair vehicle with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
• Assist other Technicians in more difficult and complex maintenance and repair tasks if needed
• Maintain and enhance mechanical knowledge and stay current on required company training
• Occasional periods of lifting and carrying supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more
• Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, security, and quality management
• Recognize and reportall accidents and hazardous conditions
• Promote workplace safety procedures
• Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned

• Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing or walking
• Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk and sit on a regular basis with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds
• Must pass a respirator fit test
