Civil Service Title: Transportation Specialist III

The Division of Bridges is seeking to hire a Transportation Specialist 3 / Assistant Operations Manager who will report to the Deputy Director of Bridge Painting in the Bureau of Maintenance, Inspections, and Operations. The role involves managing bridge painting and graffiti removal operations across 6 crews in NYC's 5 boroughs. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, coordinating activities, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and supporting citywide traffic initiatives.

The Assistant Operations Manager will visit sites regularly, liaise with contractors, maintain project documentation, review proposals and contracts, and may be required to work weekends or overnight in emergencies. The role also involves fostering communication within divisions and with external agencies.

Preferred Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid New York State motor vehicle driver's license (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
