New York City Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant Mechanical Engineer to manage engineering projects and perform fieldwork across major bridge facilities in Brooklyn and Manhattan. You will conduct inspections, oversee emergency responses, and assist engineers with reporting and office tasks.
The role requires a strong background in AutoCAD and MS Office, with the ability to operate city vehicles and hold a NY state driver’s license in good standing. Residency not required.

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, manages the full life cycle of over 800 bridges and tunnels and over 600 retaining walls, ensuring public safety and mobility. Team members work on major project designs, oversee construction and maintenance, perform engineering reviews, and conduct quality assurance on some of the City’s most iconic and complex projects.
