Ulysses in San Francisco hires a Boat Captain to run autonomous marine robot tests and customer missions. You will be responsible for the vessel, crew and safety, planning trips, deploying and recovering robots, and ensuring boats are ready for the next outing.

On-site in San Francisco with Bay Area travel, you’ll handle inspections and routine maintenance. You will plan, navigate, and coordinate operations with the deck and engineering teams, maintaining safe operations at sea and ensuring

Formación

• Experience taking responsibility for small vessels and crew
• Confident boat handling in confined water and near other vessels
• Knowledge of navigation, collision avoidance and marine radio communications
• Experience planning on-water work and adjusting to weather or readiness changes
• Ability to inspect and maintain boats and identify faults
• Clear communication with varied boating experience levels
• Willingness to work on-site in San Francisco and travel for deployments

Responsabilidades

• Plan each trip with the mission team, including operating area, weather limits, crew, equipment and recovery plan
• Command the vessel during tests and deployments, maintain safe separation from robots and other vessels
• Brief all aboard on deck procedures and emergency actions, speak up when plans don’t fit conditions
• Coordinate robot launch and recovery with the deck team, manage lifting equipment and towlines
• Keep boats ready through routine checks, servicing and repairs, arrange specialist maintenance
• Prepare and check safety equipment, fuel, spares, tools and deployment kits
• Maintain trip records, report incidents and provide feedback on equipment performance
