Job summary

United Way of Central Indiana is seeking a Senior Manager of Board Development to lead governance training programs for community-based organizations. The role designs curricula, coordinates consultants, and drives continuous improvement across the nonprofit sector in Central Indiana.

Responsibilities include curriculum development, budget oversight, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration with grant funders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in an education or curriculum design field, human services, social work, or a closely related discipline.
  • 4-6+ years of relevant experience in the education, nonprofit, or community development sector preferred.
  • Project and/or program management experience with a demonstrated ability to develop, implement and execute to achieve intended results, by following through on commitments, prioritizing work, and managing time and resources.
  • Experience in designing curriculum and facilitating training or other programming required.
  • Experience managing consultants, contractors, or external service providers.
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing community partnerships and networks and facilitating collaborative initiatives.
  • Past or current service on or engagement with nonprofit board of directors preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Central Indiana region and human services ecosystem preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of board governance training programs and curriculum.
  • Oversee design and delivery of a board governance training module and an organizational finance module.
  • Align curriculum with grant goals, learning objectives, and financial literacy basics.
  • Provide fiscal management including budget oversight and resource allocation for all program areas.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration for reporting, budget review, and program evaluation.
  • Identify and select qualified consultants for curriculum design and training facilitation.
  • Develop consultant contracts and ensure compliance with funder expectations.
  • Manage engagement with external partners and ensure quality curriculum evaluation.
  • Develop marketing and outreach processes to ensure program participation and alignment with funders.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service and technical assistance to nonprofit partners.

  • Salary Range: Upper 60s to Mid 70s
