Job summary

Department of Veterans Affairs in the United States seeks a staff vascular surgeon to deliver comprehensive care for disorders of the vascular system, including the abdominal aorta, extremities, and cerebrovascular circulation. The role encompasses consultations, nonoperative management, open surgery, and endovascular procedures.

Requirements include an MD/DO, current unrestricted license, vascular surgery residency, and board certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from a school approved by the VA for the year of graduation
• Current full license to practice medicine or surgery in US jurisdictions
• Residency in vascular surgery or equivalent training
• Board certification or eligibility in vascular surgery preferred/required for faculty
• Proficiency in spoken and written English

Responsibilities

• Provide consults and prompt review of referrals
• See new outpatients and inpatients with vascular issues
• Perform open and endovascular vascular procedures
• Coordinate care with wound therapy, radiology, and perioperative teams
• Educate residents and participate in residency program activities
• Attend morbidity and mortality conferences and document outcomes
• Maintain CME and stay updated with vascular literature
