Job summary

VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System is seeking a dynamic, board-certified/eligible Psychiatrist for a full-time inpatient position at the Omaha Veteran Affairs Hospital. You will provide comprehensive psychiatric care within a multidisciplinary team and supervise trainees across affiliated programs.

The role requires an MD with board eligibility, an unrestricted license, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• US citizenship and VA policy compliance.
• MD degree from approved medical school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the US.
• Residency training in an ACGME/AOA-approved core specialty.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a member of the acute psychiatry services team at the Omaha VA Hospital.
• Provide mental health assessments and psychiatric evaluations for a diverse veteran population.
• Manage medications, treatment plans, and referrals; participate in team meetings and triage.
• Lead and mentor trainees including medical students and residents; ensure compliance with clinical guidelines.
