Job summary

Veterans Health Administration at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System invites a board-certified psychiatrist to join our inpatient psychiatry team in Omaha. You will contribute to a comprehensive mental health program serving Veterans in a high‑quality, collaborative environment.

The role features a Monday–Friday schedule, opportunities for leadership in an interdisciplinary team, and involvement in educational activities with residents and students.

Qualifications

• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent in allopathic/osteopathic medicine.
• MD/DO degree must come from LCME- or COCA-accredited schools.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state or territory.
• Board certification in psychiatry required or expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient psychiatry services as part of the acute psychiatry team.
• Participate in shared coverage of the inpatient unit and consult‑liaison service.
• Perform mental health evaluations and manage treatment plans, including appropriate prescribing.
• Supervise trainees and coordinate referrals, with on‑call duties as assigned.
