Role Description This full-time, on-site role is based in Kansas City, MO and focuses on comprehensive burn, plastic, and reconstructive surgical care within a trauma-centered environment. The surgeon will provide inpatient and outpatient evaluation and management of acute burn injuries, complex wounds, and reconstructive needs, including operative and non-operative treatment. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing surgical procedures, rounding on hospitalized patients, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and participating in call coverage as part of a trauma and burn program. The role also involves pre- and post-operative patient counseling, documentation in electronic medical records, collaboration with nursing, therapy, and ancillary teams, and adherence to evidence-based guidelines and quality metrics. Participation in performance improvement initiatives, education of staff or trainees, and engagement in program development activities may also be part of the position.

Qualifications

• Board certification in Plastic Surgery, General Surgery with additional burn and reconstructive training, or equivalent, with demonstrated expertise in burn care and reconstructive procedures.
• Current, unrestricted medical license or eligibility for licensure in Missouri, with active DEA registration and hospital credentialing eligibility.
• Proficiency in acute burn management, complex wound care, microsurgical and reconstructive techniques, and trauma-related surgical procedures.
• Strong clinical judgment, commitment to evidence-based practice, and experience working within multidisciplinary trauma and critical care teams.
• Excellent communication skills for patient and family counseling, team collaboration, and clear documentation in electronic health records.
• Ability to manage a high-acuity clinical workload, participate in call coverage, and maintain professionalism in fast-paced, complex care settings.
• Prior experience in a burn center, trauma program, or academic/community hospital setting is preferred; involvement in quality improvement or clinical research is a plus.
