The individual in this role must have at least two years of direct experience working with individuals with dual diagnoses, including developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders, especially individuals whose behaviors may be disruptive, socially inappropriate, dangerous to self or others, or destructive to property.

The BCBA or clinical professional must also have at least two years of experience designing, supervising, and implementing behavioral interventions. Acceptable qualifications may include coursework, certification, licensure, or documented professional development in behavioral intervention and oversight. Required training content must include the foundations of applied behavior analysis, concepts and principles of ABA, measurement, data display and interpretation, experimental design, ethics, behavior assessment, behavior change procedures, selecting and implementing interventions, and personnel supervision and management.

The preferred candidate should be a BCBA, BCBA Trainee, or Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA), as the document identifies these credentials as the most applicable and appropriate training background for this role.

Required Education and Certifications

The clinical professional must hold at least a master’s degree in one of the approved professional categories, including:

  • Psychology
  • Social Work
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy

  • Or a similar human services degree such as rehabilitation counseling, sociology, or special education

In addition to education and experience, the candidate must demonstrate specialized training in Positive Behavior Supports. This includes completion of the DDD competency assessment titled “Positive Behavior Supports” with a score of 90% or higher through the test‑out option. If the candidate does not pass the test‑out option at 90% or above, they must complete the full DDD Positive Behavior Support course and pass it with a score of at least 80%.
