Job description

Summary

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, the BCBA independently provides school-based functional behavioral analytic services (assessment, treatment, and consultation) for students attending the Bradley Schools and may supervise graduate-level trainees.

Responsibilities
  • Apply corporate values of respect, honesty, and fairness in providing high‑value, customer‑friendly services.
  • Participate actively in the behavioral assessment of Bradley School students by remaining current on medical, developmental, family histories, clinical diagnoses, and treatment protocols.
  • Provide quality behavioral analytic services to all assigned students.
  • Develop individualized behavior plans and implement skills acquisition and positive behavior support programs in consultation with the treatment team.
  • Provide leadership and role modeling to multidisciplinary staff in maintaining high‑quality care for all students.
Team Leadership Responsibilities
  • Review all available student records before admission for students on assigned teams and share relevant information with team members.
  • Oversee and coordinate assessment, treatment, and education plans for all students in assigned classrooms.
  • Facilitate cooperative working relationships among team members.
  • Lead weekly team meetings and formal meetings with parents, school personnel, or community professionals (e.g., IEP/PPT meetings, behavioral reviews, transition planning).
  • Produce high‑quality team reports, letters, and required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with special education directors, school representatives, and other community contacts/providers.
  • Consult with school nurse, psychiatrist, and outside medical providers regarding medical and/or psychiatric issues, as needed.
  • Work effectively with BS psychologists to clarify assessment needs and recommendations for students on assigned teams.
  • Maintain proactive communication with the Clinical Director regarding clinical and administrative issues.
  • Use leadership, problem‑solving, and conflict‑resolution skills to maintain effective functioning of assigned teams.
  • Maintain a balance of clinical and systemic perspectives in leading assigned teams.
Student Services Responsibilities
  • Provide case management as assigned.
  • Provide individualized behavioral treatment as assigned.
  • Provide consultation regarding functional behavioral assessments and interventions as assigned.
  • Provide outpatient consultation as assigned.
  • Complete all required reports and records professionally and timely.
  • Provide in‑service education opportunities to school staff and the community as requested.
Supervision of Trainees
  • Provide reliable, high‑quality supervision of trainees as assigned and appropriate.
  • Participate in teaching of trainees as assigned.
Compliance and Professional Development
  • Attend and/or complete in‑service programs, as assigned.
  • Maintain crisis de‑escalation and intervention certification.
  • Complete required continuing education to maintain BCBA board certification.
  • Maintain BCBA license.
  • Consistently follow all school policies and procedures.
  • Consistently comply with infection control, quality improvement, risk management, and safety standards.
  • Be punctual, reliable, and judicious in using sick time and school time off as per policy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the school organizational chart and communicate issues through that structure.
  • Participate in training seminars as requested.
  • Participate in committees as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as required, assigned, or directed.
Leadership Support
  • Support BS and program‑specific initiatives, modeling flexibility and a positive attitude regarding program changes.
  • Present classroom equipment, supply, or staffing needs or concerns to site management.
  • Coordinate student/staff issues with appropriate school management to solve concerns effectively and timely.
  • Effectively lead weekly treatment team meetings and other school meetings.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with all systems involved in a student’s care.
  • Provide community leadership in understanding and treating severe psychiatric and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents.
  • Perform other leadership duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from an accredited school and board certification as a BCBA by the Behavior Analytic Certification Board.
  • Requires licensure by the RI Department of Health as a Licensed Behavior Analyst.
  • Experience in a clinical and/or school setting is highly preferred; experience working with students with autism is preferred.
  • Requires demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to school‑aged youth, considering developmental, cultural, familial, and individual factors.
Experience
  • One to two years of specialized clinical experience with children and adolescents preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is within a school classroom and/or office environment. Employees operate in a special education setting under stressful conditions associated with the care of students with severe emotional, behavioral, and/or developmental challenges, which may include aggressive and/or self‑injurious behaviors. Employees must use de‑escalation techniques taught in Safety Care training to minimize the need for physical intervention, remain calm during crises, and make quick, rational decisions. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching, grasping, and holding with hands, bending/squatting/kneeling without limitation, and physically escorting students who may become combative for short distances. The position requires occasional running, frequent standing, walking, and sitting.

Pay Range

$64,480.00 – $106,412.80
