Job description

Job Description: Nurse Navigator at MGH Cancer Center

The MGH Cancer Center is seeking two nurse navigators to join our team in coordinating care for autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant patients. These nurses will guide patients and their loved ones through the transplant process, supporting physicians, practice nurses, research staff, and technologists.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting with high-risk clinical services, adhering to industry standards and guidelines.
  2. Managing multiple computer systems related to cellular therapy and donor searches.
  3. Working with patients under physician direction, scheduling clinical services, and coordinating pre-transplant preparations.
  4. Collaborating with transplant coordinators and the NMDP to facilitate donor searches and product deliveries.
  5. Acting as a primary contact for clinicians and staff regarding allogeneic transplant processes.
  6. Maintaining detailed records, understanding SOPs, and obtaining medical clearance for admissions.
  7. Communicating complex care components to patients and ensuring their understanding of schedules.
  8. Preparing testing logs, escorting patients, and coordinating laboratory and cell procurement activities.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Registered Nurse license (state-specific) required.
  • 0-1 year of clinical nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, confidentiality, and triage skills.
