Job summary

Vanguard Maintenance & Electrical, Inc. is seeking a Low Voltage Technician to perform hands-on field installation of low voltage cabling, conduit, and devices across Texas project sites.

Ideal candidates have extensive conduit installation experience and can work independently in commercial/industrial settings, under supervision of the Project Site Manager. Experience with low voltage systems and Building Management Systems is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of electrician or low voltage experience preferred.
  • Extensive conduit installation experience required.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings preferred.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Site readiness and safety compliance per NEC/NFPA.
  • Install, bend, route, and secure conduit per project drawings and codes.
  • Rough in low-voltage cabling and extend cable runs through conduit.
  • Review submittals and project drawings to match contracted drawings.
  • Travel to various Texas job sites as needed, coordinated with the Project Manager.

Job Summary

The Low Voltage Technician performs hands‑on field installation of low voltage cabling, conduit, and devices on Vanguard project sites across Texas. This role is best suited for an experienced electrician or installer with extensive conduit installation experience and the ability to work independently in active commercial and industrial construction environments. Working under the direction of a Project Site Manager and coordinating daily with the Field Superintendent, the Technician executes installations in compliance with NEC and NFPA requirements, project specifications, and contracted drawings while upholding Vanguard’s safety and quality standards. Experience with low voltage systems, controls, Building Management Systems (BMS), and related technologies is a plus but not required.

Organizational Relationships

Reports to: Project Site Manager

Coordinates daily on-site with: Field Superintendent (as applicable)

Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Site Readiness & Safety
  • Report to the site location promptly, mentally and physically prepared, with required PPE.
  • Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all site and Company safety policies.
  • Comply with all NEC/NFPA codes, project specifications, and submittals during installations.
Field Installation
  • Install, bend, route, and secure conduit in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Perform conduit layout and installation to support low voltage and control system infrastructure.
  • Assist the team with field installations, including conduit, cabling, device installs, and terminations per NEC code.
  • Rough in low‑voltage cabling and execute extended cable runs through conduit.
  • Review submittals and project drawings, ensuring installations match contracted drawings.
Time Tracking & Communication
  • Use the Miter platform for daily clock‑in/clock‑out and correct project time entry.
  • Maintain open communication with Foremen and/or Project Leaders regarding weekly tasks, roadblocks, and field issues.
  • Provide schedule and completion updates as requested by the Foreman or Project Leader.
Collaboration & Professional Development
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude with team members, customers, and other trades.
  • Participate in job walks with clients, general contractors, and Vanguard team members as requested.
  • Travel on an as‑needed basis to various job sites in Texas, coordinated with the Project Manager and flexible to accommodate personal schedules.
  • Participate in team‑building exercises, meetings, and continuing professional development.

Physical Demands
  • Climb ladders, bend, and work in various positions.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, and materials as needed.
  • Exposure to sun, heat, cold, and rain.
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience as an electrician, electrical installer, low voltage technician, or similar construction trade preferred.
  • Extensive conduit installation experience required.
  • Experience pulling wire and installing cable through conduit systems.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical and construction drawings preferred.OSHA 10 certification preferred.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
