Job Description:

Blood Component Manufacturing Technician (Union)

What You Need to Know:

You will manufacture blood products, process units received from donors, scan blood units, and process them into transfusable components like red cells, platelets, and plasma, including leukoreducing.

Teamwork, punctuality, and a positive, customer-focused attitude are essential. You will interact with internal and external customers with care and compassion.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet production goals with accurate documentation.
  • Manage inventory effectively.
  • Perform data entry and operate related computer programs.
  • Analyze and make decisions based on visual inspections and departmental information.
  • Perform complex manufacturing tasks such as pooled product manufacturing, freezing, washing, or deglycerolizing blood products, and pathogen reduction.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and volunteers.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Schedule:

Full Time; Tuesday-Saturday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. Training for 4-6 weeks during daytime hours, paid at the standard rate.

Pay:

$19.23/hour plus shift differential for weekend hours, with an additional $2.00/hour for Saturday.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Good computer skills, attention to detail, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
Physical Requirements:

Standing, stretching, stooping, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in refrigerated environments, and wearing protective clothing.
