Job summary

The American Red Cross in Columbia, Missouri is hiring a phlebotomist to join our donor services team. You will support blood collection operations, help create a welcoming environment for volunteer donors, and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Paid phlebotomy training is provided; no prior medical experience required. Strong customer service and communication skills are valued, and a valid driver’s license is required for travel between donation sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include lifting, pushing or pulling heavy weights and long hours; minimum height requirement may apply.
• Basic computer skills are required (Microsoft Office).
• Preferred: prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience; leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Take time to connect with donors, listening to their stories and explaining the impact of their donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment for donors.
• Be detail-oriented to ensure collected blood meets goals and regulatory requirements.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up/tearing down equipment at donation sites.
