Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and skin puncture to obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis. The role requires ensuring patient comfort, accurate labeling, and proper documentation while adhering to safety guidelines.

The position involves 40 hours per week with 8-hour day shifts between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and every third Saturday rotation from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Certification in PBT (ASCP) is preferred.

Qualifications

• PBT (ASCP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture according to physician orders to ensure complete and accurate specimens for testing.
• Ensures the patient is informed, comfortable and safe.
• Identifies the patient, explains procedures, and performs phlebotomy duties.
• Maintains safety standards and uses appropriate equipment.
• Prepares specimens for processing and completes required paperwork.
• Manages incoming calls and schedules patient appointments as needed.
• Greet patients and provide directions as required.
• Verifies insurance information and authorizations when applicable.
