Job summary

American Red Cross in Cincinnati, OH is seeking Blood Collection Staff to support all steps of the blood collection process, set up equipment, and foster a welcoming donor environment while adhering to safety standards.

Paid phlebotomy training is provided, offering growth in healthcare skills within the American Red Cross as you contribute to lifesaving donations and work with a supportive team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required.
• Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications.
• Candidate must reside in one of the following counties in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana to be considered: Ohio: Adams, Athens, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Fairfield, Fayette, Guernsey, Hamilton, Highland, Hocking, Licking, Morgan, Muskingum, Nobel, Perry, Pickaway, Ross, Vinton, Warren; Kentucky: Boone, Campbell, Grant, Kenton; Indiana: Dearborn or Ohio

Responsibilities

• Utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process.
• Collaborate with team to transport and setup equipment at collection sites.
• Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors.
• Follow all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations.
• Take time to personally connect with donors and help them understand the impact of their donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a friendly environment so donors feel comfortable returning.
• Be detail oriented to ensure blood collected meets goals and regulatory requirements.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and work with team to setup and tear down equipment at donation sites.
