Blood Cancer Unit Registered Nurse Austin, TX

Title: Blood Cancer Unit Registered Nurse
Schedule: Full-time, Nights (Rotating Weekends), 3/12 (6:45 p.m.-7:00 a.m.)
Location: Austin, TX
Job Type: Permanent

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with blood cancer conditions, including assessment, monitoring, and treatment.
• Administer chemotherapy and other medications as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor patients' responses to treatment and manage any side effects or complications.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about blood cancer conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.

Experience:

• 1 year of acute nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN). Must have Oncology experience in an acute care, cancer Centre or medical Centre.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the first year of hire.
• Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Provider card within the first 6 months of hire.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) and/or Blood & Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN) certifications are preferred.
