Job summary

Atlantic Health System in Summit, NJ seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Under CLIA supervision, you will process specimens, perform high/moderate complexity testing, troubleshoot issues, and report accurate results to support patient care.

You’ll handle specimen accessioning, follow SOPs, maintain quality control records, operate and maintain equipment, and collaborate with HIS/LIS systems to ensure efficient workflow on-site.

• Responsibilities require processing and testing specimens per SOPs.
• Ability to interpret and report results with clinical correlation.
• Proficiency in using HIS/LIS software for documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Processing and Accessioning: evaluate specimens and test orders for acceptability.
• Specimen Testing: perform high/moderate complexity testing per SOPs.
• Result Reporting: correlate results with diagnosis and prior results as applicable.
• Computer Skills: proficient with HIS and LIS systems in job tasks.
• Equipment Operation: operate, maintain and troubleshoot equipment per SOPs.
• Quality Control: follow QC policies; document calibrations and maintenance.
• Proficiency Testing: participate and treat PT samples as patient samples.
• Inventory Management: rotate stock and monitor expiration dates.
• Training: assist with training of team members and students.
• Safety: follow Atlantic Health safety procedures and practices.
