Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Med Lab Science or a biological science degree with MT/MLS certification.
• MLS certification required within one year if not certified at hire; first board of certification must be attempted within six months.
• Final candidates subject to background check; drug screen or physical may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blood components for transfusion and allocate them for procedures.
• Receive blood products from outside sources and thaw FFP/Cryoprecipitate as needed.
• Process specimens with ABO/RH typing, crossmatching, and antibody screening/identification.
• Answer telephone inquiries about specimens, results, and product availability.
• Maintain patient files and distribute supplies; participate in 24/7 department operations.
