Job summary

Foundation Health Partners is seeking an Experienced Blood Bank Supervisor in Fairbanks, AK. The role oversees daily operations of the blood bank, ensures quality and regulatory compliance, and leads a team to deliver accurate patient results with strong communication across the care team.

The position offers a $30,000 retention bonus, relocation assistance up to $7,500, 90 days of temporary housing, and comprehensive benefits including medical, vision, dental, and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in a lead, supervisory, or equivalent capacity.
• MLS/ASCP certification or equivalent such as ASCP, AMT, HEW, or AAB; if not current, must obtain within one year.
• Must communicate effectively in both oral and written formats; must possess leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Monitors daily workflow of departmental processes and supervises staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
• Oversees hiring, orientation, scheduling, competency, and disciplinary actions; partners with Laboratory Director on issues.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting and regulatory requirements; maintains quality control and equipment standards.
• Coordinates quality improvement, proficiency testing, and safety activities; reports variances to leadership.
• Investigates and follows up on occurrence reports and customer concerns; collaborates with vendors for equipment services.
• Makes recommendations for technical changes and works with the Medical Director and vendors on improvements.
• Performs all functions of a Med Lab Scientist or Histology Tech as applicable.
