Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required in related field of Science, preferably from an accredited MLT program or Military Medical Laboratory training
• Less than 1 year prior training in a laboratory setting (student training accepted).
• Bachelor’s Degree required in related field of Science, preferably from an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology or Military Medical Laboratory specialist Training
• Less than 1 year prior training in a laboratory setting (student training accepted).

Responsibilities

• Properly processes specimens following established protocols for proper patient identification and labelling.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections and QC checks; communicates requirements and reports critical values per policy.
• Completes reports and maintains records of test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Operates analytical equipment, monitors, calibrates and maintains devices per manufacturer specs; troubleshoots issues and logs maintenance.
• Adheres to QC policies to ensure accuracy of results; participates in proficiency testing and regulatory compliance.
