Job summary

Shepeard Community Blood Center is seeking a dedicated Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join the Technical Services team in Augusta, GA. Under the Director of Technical Services, you will prepare blood components and perform testing on donor blood in compliance with FDA and AABB guidelines.

You will label and deliver components to Hospital Services, perform QC, and assist with facilities and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science with CLS certification.
Previous CLS experience preferred; blood banking experience a plus.
ASCP or equivalent CLS certification required.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing according to SOPs in compliance with FDA and AABB guidelines.
Label and deliver blood components to Hospital Services.
Conduct quality control to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Assist in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
Meet educational and certification requirements of SCBC and the lab.
Perform batch release functions before the release of platelet units when the Director is absent.
Collaborate with team in the lab, component prep and Hospital Services to promote customer service and repeat business.
Follow SCBC/department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Willingly perform other duties as assigned.
