Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking an Engineer, Blockchain Platforms to help build the blockchain infrastructure layer behind Schwab’s digital asset custody and tokenization platforms. The role focuses on Layer‑1 integration, wallet architecture, and custody‑related workflows.

You will collaborate with custody and security engineers to ensure reliable, observable, and production‑ready systems, operating on‑site in San Francisco, CA to support in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience building or integrating blockchain systems.
• Strong understanding of Layer-1 protocols and transaction lifecycles.
• Experience building backend services, APIs, and infrastructure components.
• Proficiency in one of Go, Java, Rust, Python, or similar.
• Ability to work across custody, security, and platform teams.

Responsibilities

• Integrate Schwab systems with Layer-1 blockchains.
• Design and build core blockchain infrastructure services.
• Develop wallet architecture and signing workflows.
• Support custody-related blockchain workflows and recovery patterns.
• Ensure reliability, observability, and production readiness.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development.
